Ministry May Propose Bigger PPR Units For Poor

Weekly Industry News

The National Community Policy to be launched by the Housing and Local Government Ministry in August may propose bigger living quarters for the poor, said its minister Zuraida Kamaruddin.

She said it may propose that the living quarters at the People’s Housing Project (PPR) flats be at least 83.6 sq m in size instead of the current 55.7 sq m.

“I do not want the PPR living quarters and those for the B40 group to be small like birds’ nests,” Zuraida said.

The B40 group comprises the bottom 40 per cent of households with a monthly income of RM3,900 and below.
