Owning an affordable home is a good investment and very beneficial in the long term, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
He said as the price of property will increase over the years, purchasing affordable homes can be seen as property investment.
“Over the years, the price of affordable homes will increase. Someday we might be able to purchase a more expensive house than the affordable home that we currently have,” he said in his speech during the launch of National Community Policy (NCP) today.
Present at the event were his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamed Ali, Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin, Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and several other members of the Cabinet.
Dr Mahathir said the government was committed to build one million units of affordable homes within the next 10 years, hence helping the people to own a house at a much cheaper price.
